Wondering When It Will Be Our Turn

Spotlight

A 3D Telematic Cinema Performance about Width, Height and Depth.

Work begins on the next telematic cinema project XYZ, a 3D digital poem exploring the social and personal elements of width, height and depth through poetry, music, movement and 3D stereographic media. This new work will investigate concepts such as humanity's width of knowledge and experience, heights of aspiration and its depth of spirit.

Another Language Performing Arts Company will investigate how the concepts of 3D correlate with human functionality. This performance art work will focus on the cinematic story. Elizabeth Miklavcic will perform live in the VisLab Black Box Theater, interacting with the visual events on the screen.

Characters will appear on the screen wrapped in 3D animated shapes revealing their technological thoughts. They will appear and disappear in their proverbial thought bubbles, reflecting upon many questions about functionality in this modern world.

Jimmy Miklavcic will manipulate and mix the digital elements while simultaneously sending the live performance over the Internet. XYZ will be available in several digital venues, as well as performed for a live audience in the VisLab Black Box Theater at the University of Utah Intermountain Network and Scientific Computation Center on February 22-24 and March 1-3, 2013.

Each telematic work of Another Language takes more than a year to develop. Emphasis is placed on research and the investigation of new technologies. There is an excitement in finding the voice of each new project. Every new work is about embarking on a creative journey and learning from the experience of the creative research.
-By Elizabeth Miklavcic-

"Supported by the Utah Arts Council, with funding from the State of Utah and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art."

"Another Language Performing Arts Company thanks the voters of Salt Lake County for their support of the Zoo, Arts & Parks program. One-tenth of one percent of the Salt Lake County sales tax goes to support local cultural, botanical, and zoological organizations. This funding has not only stabilized many of Salt Lake's cultural organizations, but has also funded the construction of new recreational facilities, and improved walking trails. ZAP funding helps to provide "free" days, free concerts, reduced ticket prices for students, and provide in-school programs for children in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade."
