Description
Rehearsing about once a week until the upcoming concert, this was most likely the final rehearsal before Another Language Performing Arts Company's debut concert As Our Thoughts Escape Us. Even though there were not a lot of what you would call "technical" dance moves in this conceptual piece, it was very physically challenging to execute this sequence of mostly weight bearing, partnering movements.

As you can see, when Elizabeth opens the horizontal door in the beginning, her "bun-in-the-oven" is much more apparent then in the August rehearsal. Now, four months pregnant, the physical demands of the dance were becoming harder for her to undertake. Luckily, the concert was performed soon after this rehearsal. Daniel Killpack was a caring dance partner, and enthusiastically embraced his commitment to the performance even with the ever-changing physicality that Elizabeth was going through.

After this rehearsal, Daniel and Elizabeth decorated the cabinet, constructed by Jimmy Miklavcic, with brightly colored shapes as if it was the inside of a toy box. Daniel created a wonderful sound collage for the dance that can be heard in the performance video. The title One Door Down, also indicated that these two characters/children could be next door neighbors who played together often. Engaging in their fantasy world of make-believe and dreams.
