Description

The work was inspired by William S. Burroughs and Martin Olson's sound score The Five Steps. Elizabeth and Jimmy choreographed alternate two minute sections. When Elizabeth completed her section, Jimmy continued the work for the next two minutes, then back to Elizabeth, then back to Jimmy and so on for eight minutes.

In the score, William S Burroughs speaks about five steps to consolidating revolutionary gains. The dancers, dressed in military fatigues, perform the maneuvers of an artistic conquest of creative space. The dancers advance across the space in the attempt to control and transform the illusion of individuality and manifest destiny.
