Bug Splatter Description

Elizabeth and Jimmy Miklavcic created and performed a multi-media duet where they began by standing apart and through a series of interactions, eventually end up holding and manipulating a white piece of material. The sound score, Bug Splatter, by Peon Clover defined the framework for this performance art work. A projector pointing in the middle of the stage space displayed a series of digital paintings (created by Elizabeth and Jimmy) onto the white surface of the sheet throughout the six minute performance.

The two performers rolled themselves up in the sheet, meeting in the middle. The movement of the duo once they connected, was defined by the energy of the concept, which is that all of us, in essence are bug splatter. A statement about mass shootings, the duo worked with concepts of pushing, pulling, and helping each other out of this dangerous situation.

At the end of the dance, the duo are once again standing at opposite sides with the sheet spread out between them. Three audience members Catherine Weller, Tony Weller and Hanelle Miklavcic ran up to the sheet, making contact with it as if they were bugs hitting the windshield of a car.
