The Other Side of the Mirror (2020) Jimmy Miklavcic

The recent digital paintings by Jimmy Miklavcic have been visual stream-of-conscience activities. The Other Side of the Mirror is another one of the four works that focused on a particular structural style. The components include a large central structure floating in a solid surrounding color with pen like strokes in one corner and a solid, hard-edged shape amidst the multicolored field. The titles of this group were originally the date that each painting was first initiated, but when preparing this one for Art of the Month, a different title came to mind. With some of the background coming forward and out of the frame, I began to think of Alice in Wonderland and the other side of the mirror.
