Description
Trash was danced by company members Michael Larkin and Lori Hunter and choreographed by Sarah Hudelson for Another Language Performing Arts Company's Home Movies and Other Family Secrets Concert

This dance depicts multiple levels of symbolism. Trash. is the story of a couple wallowing in their physical and metaphorical junk. The unhealthy relationship is manifested in a space filled with garbage, to the point that the garbage is even stuck to their bodies. This dance shows how couples can wear their pain, the pain they cause each other through their toxic behavior.

The choreography is abrupt and jarring as the dancers aggressively interact with each other through a frustrated, percussive de-resolution. The movement qualities highlighted in the choreography can be perceived as unending bickering where nothing gets resolved. They just keep creating more trash and expecting the other one to clean it up, to the point where Michael leaves, falling down the stairs in the process.
