Description
In the process of growing there are moments that remain impactful and provide great springboards for creativity. This concert was a platform for investigations for Company Member's slices-of-life that they wanted to express and explore in movement and performance art. Presented as a Theater-In-The-Round concert, the intimate experience brought the audience into the "family" so-to-speak, as part of the event. The full concert line-up included A Little Peace and Quiet choreographed by Elizabeth Miklavcic, Performed by Chara Huckins, Sarah Hudelson, Michael Larkin, Lori Nichol, Jimmy and Elizabeth Miklavcic. A dance about about the need for solitude while surrounded by constant noise and chatter. Gotta Move On is a solo choreographed and performed by Lori Nichol and is about the adjustments one goes through when a partner has already checked out of a relationship. But I Still Wonder I: Truth or Consequences was choreographed and performed by Eleni Kambouris about an adult unable to communicate with a child. Trash was choreographed by Sarah Hudelson and performed by Lori Nichol and Michael Larkin. It is a dance about living with someone who is a slob. Keepin' Up with the Jones' a solo choreographed and performed by Elizabeth Miklavcic, is a dance about chasing the dream of material goods when there is absolutely no chance to acquire them. The individual puts up a good front to disguise the financial stress she is actually under. But I Still Wonder II: The Staid Course choreographed and performed by Eleni Kambouris is the second solo in the "Wonder" series. This dance portrays confusion from a child's perspective. Full Closets choreographed by Elizabeth Miklavcic, performed by Chara Huckins, Sarah Hudelson, and Lori Nichol, is a comment about having too much stuff and prioritizing the wrong, superficial things in one's life. The dancer's continuously don more layers to the point of looking and acting ridiculous. On The Verge of Invisibility is a film by Kerry Jensen (KSL) created in 1983 while Jimmy Miklavcic had an installation at the Art Barn in Salt Lake City, Utah. This film is about an artist's journey while searching for identity and recognition. Avoid Your First Inclinations is a dance choreographed by Jimmy Miklavcic, performed by Chara Huckins, Sarah Hudelson, Eleni Kambouris, Michael Larkin, Lori Nichol, and Elizabeth Miklavcic. Figures in white painters' suits explore the meaning of life through spliced experiences that are joined together within a story that makes up a life, multiplied by six. Ryan Sales, serving as the show host, joined together the individual dances, so that the expressions became one universal story depicted in chapters of this Home Movie presented by Another Language Performing Arts Company. |
