Description
As one of Elizabeth's most entertaining dances, she wanted to create a dance that moved through the large proscenium stage space. Love Has Many Splendid Variations incorporates humor and high energy scenes, with groupings in formations that constantly shift and change, just as love constantly shifts and changes. Framed with 1950's music, there were six distinct scenes tied together through the common theme of love and relationships. The nine wonderful and talented Orchesis Dance Company members, were amazing and enthusiastic to work with, enabling the joyful creation of this remarkable dance. The only draw back was having to drive from Salt Lake to Weber for the six weeks of rehearsal, while the dance was in development. Elizabeth is grateful to Jeanne Travers who was the Chair of Dance at Weber State University in 1990. Through this residency, Jeanne gave Elizabeth the opportunity to create Love Has Many Splendid Variations. It is difficult to see with the quality of this video documentation how truly incredible this dance is, the inventiveness of the choreography still rings true. |
