In Some Language begins with a duet choreographed by Christopher Murray Ivins and Sari Lukkapinen, and performed by Christopher Murray Ivins and Gunild Pak that portrays the relationship of two people with the desire to come together and build a life, but are unable. A more in-depth description is in the 1989 Another Language Holds A Conversation Together Alone page. The second duet choreographed and performed by Elizabeth and Jimmy Miklavcic focuses on co-dependency, and carrying the weight of a partner without even being aware of the burden. A more in-depth description is in the 1989 Another Language Holds A Conversation Ignorance of Burden page. The reprise ties the two duets together into a quartet exploring the attempts through moments of success, and ultimately failures that reaching out for connection can entail. A more in-depth description is in the 1989 Another Language Holds A Conversation Reprise page.
